IMG_3468

When children are involved in creating something they learn more, specially when is an activity they enjoy. Create an artistic representation of the Garden of Ridvan using play-dough with your children and meanwhile you do so, you can listen to songs about the King of Festivals, or you can tell them the story of those heavenly days! Great activity for 2 years old and up!

IMG_3386.JPG

Happy Ridván to all of you delightful people!

Every year we pitch a tent and create a garden in our living room to celebrate Ridvan. There we read stories about those twelve precious days Bahá’u’lláh spent in the garden.

This year we did the flowers from coffee filters. So much fun! This is an activity that my family looks forward every year. Perfect for 4yo children and up. Enjoy the tutorial bellow! What other ideas for garden recreation you have? I would love to see your pictures!

Tutorial – A Painted Garden for Ridván!

IMG_3465 (1)

Last year (2016) to celebrate Ridván we painted our garden! Just a roll of paper and a watercolor set. Tape the paper to the wall and have your children paint flowers until their hearts are content. Our oldest who was 3 years old at the time had a blast! Take care to not paint your walls accidentally through the paper. This space will later serve a place to read stories and learn about the importance of Ridván!

Tutorial – “RIDVAN” in Marquee Letters

For the King of Festivals, I wanted to create a center piece. I found these letters and fell in love! Beautiful, durable and you can paint them (over and over again). During the day they look so elegant…

Tutorial – Tent, Garden, and River to Celebrate Ridván

IMG_3466

A Joyous King of Festivals to all!

A couple of years ago (2015) when our oldest son was 2 years old, we started the tradition of pitching a tent to celebrate Ridván. This was inspired by other moms that created similar spaces to celebrate these precious days. I also thought we will be a great idea if we could include the river and the garden.

I cut a few flowers out of paper in different colors, put them together and had my 2yo son tape them to the wall, similar we did with the river. And used a super easy tutorial to create this beautiful tent!

What are your favorite activities to celebrate Ridván?

Gift Coloring Page – Twelve Roses to Celebrate Ridván, The King of Festivals

2017_DHLLC_Melissa Charepoo_ Ridvan Coloring Sheet

A gift coloring page to celebrate Ridván, The King of Festivals!

“Every day,” Nabíl has related, “ere the hour of dawn, the gardeners would pick the roses which lined the four avenues of the garden, and would pile them in the center of the floor of His blessed tent. So great would be the heap that when His companions gathered to drink their morning tea in His presence, they would be unable to see each other across it. All these roses Bahá’u’lláh would, with His own hands, entrust to those whom He dismissed from His presence every morning to be delivered, on His behalf, to His Arab and Persian friends in the city.” – Shoghi Effendi, God Passes By
